How Music is
taught at Hurtwood

The Hurtwood Concert

This is one of the main events of the school year. The Hurtwood Concert is an immense high-octane mix of lights, projections, film, dance and top sounds. All types of music are represented from Classical to Jazz, Rock, and Pop, and recent years have also included Irish Folk, Opera and Traditional Chinese Music played on authentic instruments. This is your chance to perform with the support of a professional band supported by lights and sound designed and operated by rock professionals. The competition for concert slots is fierce but there are roles for everyone and many students say this is the most rewarding thing they do at Hurtwood.

Lunchtime Concerts

There are regular informal, relaxed, lunchtime concerts for students to perform to the appreciative Hurtwood audience.

The Gig of Glory

Once a year we stage our "Gig of Glory", the chance for school rock groups to perform with the full Hurtwood technical support.

The Classical Concert

Once a year we hold the Classical Concert, highlighting the classical music going on at Hurtwood.
