THE APPLICATION PROCESS IS SIMPLE. BELOW IS AN OUTLINE OF HOW IT WORKS.

  1. INITIAL CONTACT

Applicants should send through their details, such as; their present grades, their interests, the subjects they want to study at A-level and why they want to come to Hurtwood, via the CONTACT form. Alternatively, please do give us a call on 01483 279 000 and ask to speak to our Admissions team.

  2. “Fantastic education in a caring, thoughtful community.”

    Maria Roles-McLaughlin, Past Student
  3. CONSIDERATION BY THE HEADMASTER

The Headmaster will then take these details into consideration and make a decision as to whether to invite the applicant for an interview or not.

Once invited for an interview the Applicant should contact the school to make an appointment.

Places are subject to availability, and the student satisfying the admissions requirements at the time.

  4. “Hurtwood provides students with a good academic foundation without being a really boring and really strict school.”

    Saif Edu, Past Student
  5. THE INTERVIEW

Selection is based largely upon the impressions formed during the interview and on the reference provided by your school. In general, we want to be sure that you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, that you are hard-working, mature, and ready to take full advantage of all the opportunities that Hurtwood House provides.

Obviously, your academic record is important and we have high academic standards to maintain, but this is certainly not the only criterion for selection. Above all, we need to feel that you are going to make a positive contribution to our community. Character, willingness, cheerfulness, creativity and enthusiasm are all qualities that we look for.

The interview is an informal affair and is a chance for students, and parents, to get to know Hurtwood as much as it is for us to get to know you.

  6. "Hurtwood House is clearly a premier league institution."

    Daily Telegraph
  7. AFTER THE INTERVIEW

Once the applicant has been for an interview it is then time for them to make the decision: do you want to come here? If you do, then complete our online application.

Once this is received the Headmaster will write to the applicant's present school for a reference. On receipt of this we will be in a position to offer a place to successful candidates.

  8. “An exceptional level of educational and pastoral support.”

    Ofsted
  9. CONFIRMING A
PLACE

Once a place has been offered the applicant will be sent a formal offer of a place and the applicant will need to return an Acceptance Form.

After this stage, in the event of the cancellation of a place which has been accepted, no part of the registration fee will be refundable.
