Sunday evenings are about to be a lot more fun due to the BBC’s new flagship comedy ‘The Reluctant Vampire’ starring Hurtwood’s alumnus Gabriel Nagy! Tune in for the next six Sunday evenings at 6.40pmto watch the new series based on the books by comedy legend Eric Morecambe and written by Rob and Neil Gibbons famous for penning Alan Partridge. The sitcom is about a young vampire who finds out he is not a vampire at all, and who lives a double life. John Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy stated, “We’re confident this will become one of the standout comedies of the year”.  

Gabe is acting alongside a star-studded cast including BAFTA winner Lenny Rush, Tom Davis, Bill Bailey, Ross Noble and Sian Clifford. Gabe’s rise to success has certainly been a rapid one. On leaving Hurtwood in 2025 he headed to New York to Drama School at Tisch but having been spotted by talent agents at Hurtwood’s Acting Company’s production of ‘Country Music’ by Simon Stephens, he was called back to star in a series of productions. His whirlwind schedule began with playing Oberon in 'Extra Geography', the acclaimed Film4-backed drama and continued with playing Barry in the Amazon series 'Patterns'. He is currently filming another new feature ‘Dear William’ in which he plays William Magee. 'Dear William' is being directed by Andrew Hyatt and is based on David Magee's bestselling memoir. It is due for release in 2027. Gabe has come a very long way in the last year since he left Hurtwood but he reflected “Being taught by Ezra in Acting Company was life changing for me. I had so many chances to perform at Hurtwood, but it was Acting Company which was really transformational.”  

Tisch has promised to keep Gabe’s place open but the way things are going it seems unlikely that Gabe will have the time to take them up on their offer.
