We are delighted to announce that 'The Hurtwood Album 2025' is released on Spotify and YouTube Music today.
The album is the culmination of many months of hard work by the students of Hurtwood's Music Technology Department. It is the creation of our extracurricular 'Album Academy' which meet every Monday. Each week interested Music Technology students delve deeper into the recording and production process. They learn to pair their technical knowledge with the creative process using a wide range of microphones, vintage analog equipment and production techniques. In the process this year the students also became proficient in industry standard ProTools software which are found in the best studios in the world such as Abbey Road. Recording 'The Hurtwood Album' has been transformative for many Music Technology students and there is no doubt that it has given them a head start in becoming the producers and engineers of tomorrow. We would like to thank our talented student performers - Isla on the violin and singers Ava, Anya, Akira, Caroline, Willem, Freya and Zahara for their wonderful vocal performances.
Music Technology is one of the most exciting departments in the school. This term the students visited the Abbey Road Institute for a mixing workshop led by the acclaimed sound engineer, producer and songwriter Charlie Thomas, whose credits include Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, One Direction and Little Mix. During the session, students gained practical insight into professional mixing, developing their technical skills while working in a world-class studio environment. The visit also included a tour of the Abbey Road Institute, a specialist training centre within the iconic Abbey Road Studios complex.
Production on the 2026 album is nearly complete so look out for this one soon and we are about to audition for the 2027 album!
