Hurtwood House Results 2020

20/08/2020

This year we are celebrating the success of our wonderful and talented leavers in the most extraordinary circumstances.

With grace and dignity our students have faced the unprecedented situation of a global pandemic, a closed school, cancelled A Level exams, and the most confusing and unsettling results period ever.  They desperately wanted the opportunity to show off their skills, knowledge and progress in the summer exam sitting, and that chance was taken from them.  We admire and congratulate their patience with this situation.

Our leavers can hold their heads up high and celebrate their extraordinary success in their final examination grades, received this week.  54% of all grades awarded were A* or A, double the typical national average figure.  84% of grades were A*, A and B, showing the ability of Hurtwood students to be worthy of those prized grades.  Several of our students were awarded three, or even four, A* grades.

We are delighted that so many of our students are currently in the process of confirming their Firm choice university places to study a diversity of courses from Digital Media and Communications to Veterinary Medicine, Philosophy to Costume for Theatre and Film, and Modern Languages to Law.  Many have secured places at traditional institutions including LSE, UCL, Edinburgh and Bristol.  A wide range of creative and media courses are now confirmed at a range of institutions including University of the Arts London, Leeds Conservatoire, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Trinity LABAN Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and Falmouth University.  Hurtwood students are unafraid to venture overseas and we are delighted that many are on their way to study abroad at institutions including in NYU, New York Film Academy, Berklee College of Music, and the Design Academy Eindhoven.

We wish them every success for life beyond Hurtwood!
