Congratulations to Saoirse, Archie, Robyn and Grace on their Edinburgh Fringe debut with their production ‘These Days’ which received an impressive ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review!
The two-women production, brought together by students Archie Elliot (Producer & Co-Writer/Director) and Saoirse Reynolds (Co-Writer/Director), featured ‘mesmerising’ performances from both Robyn Mirmak and Grace Wood, with one publication citing the play as a “gripping thriller about obsession and unrequited love”.
Things were not always easy for the team as they had to put up with multiple train delays and being soaked to the skin while giving out flyers on the Royal Mile. In true Hurtwood style, they persevered, and the show was an outstanding success. They enjoyed every minute of being a part of the Fringe and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to support the show, both in Edinburgh and at Hurtwood. In particular, they are very grateful to our Head of Performing Arts, Doug Quinn, for his unwavering support. Saoirse stated “I don’t think I anticipated or understood how big and exciting it would become. What started as a very small project between myself and Archie, became all-encompassing with planning, auditions and rehearsals. The process made me realise that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life if possible. I would not have felt brave enough without so much support from all my Drama teachers. I was supported throughout the whole process and before this I would never have believed that any school would be so interested in something that I was doing outside of school.”
Ex-student Molly Palmer filmed the entire process from conception to the Edinburgh stage. Molly, who developed her skills in Hurtwood’s Film Academy, is currently editing the documentary which will be out soon. Watch this space!
