Disney has announced the cast for its major new production of ‘Hercules’ at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and we are delighted to announce that the role of Hercules has been given to ex-student Luke Brady. Luke who was the lead in Hurtwood’s ‘We Will Rock You’ is no stranger to the West End. His previous theatre credits include ‘As You Like It’ for the RSC, ‘SuperYou’ at the West End’s Lyric Theatre, ‘Assassins’ at Chichester Festival Theatre, and ‘The Prince of Egypt’ at the Dominion Theatre.
Anne Quart, Executive Producer of Disney Theatrical Group said: “After a wide and exhaustive search, we are thrilled to announce Luke as Hercules. His remarkable depth as an actor delivers all the weight and power the character demands, but it’s his magnetism and presence that elevate this mythic character into a relatable young man, finding his way in the world and learning what it means to be human. The Hercules team has fallen in love with him and know that audiences will feel the same.” Tony award winning Director Casey Nicholaw (Mean Girls, The Book of Mormon) added “In a search that took us across the globe, we have found our perfect hero in Luke, and I look forward to working with him over the coming months to develop the much-loved character of Hercules. We can’t wait for him to lift the roof at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.”
Last summer Luke came back to Hurtwood to film a podcast for our series ‘Beyond the Hill – LINK HERE). Luke recently explained to School House magazine that “All the Drama I did at Hurtwood was the catalyst for everything I am doing now. The shows at school were so professional that the transition into the West End didn’t seem like much of a gap. ‘We Will Rock You’ at Hurtwood turned out to be a life changing moment for me as the school had
invited someone from my future acting agency, Curtis Brown, to watch and the rest is history.”
We are sure that ‘Hercules’ inspired by Disney’s 1997 smash hit film is destined to be a major West End success with music by 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Tony Award winner David Zippel. With Luke in the lead role, ‘Hercules’ will surely be as popular as Disney’s other West End show ‘The Lion King’ which has just celebrated its 25th anniversary.
Tickets for ‘Hercules’ are on sale now and it is playing from 6 June 2025 onwards.
