Higher Education Adviser

Are you working in university admissions or student recruitment in a higher education setting or working as a higher education adviser in a Sixth Form? Would you like to use your experience to support ambitious Sixth Form students as they plan their next steps?

Hurtwood House is looking for an organised, approachable and enthusiastic Higher Education Adviser to join our Careers and Higher Education team.

Working closely with the Head of Life Skills, you will provide personalised advice to students applying to university, apprenticeships, internships and work experience opportunities. You will support applications to UK and overseas universities, including UCAS and the Common Application, and help students make informed choices about their futures.

The role will also include helping to deliver higher education workshops and events, coordinating university visits and speakers, maintaining careers resources, supporting staff with reference writing and managing key application and student-record processes. You will be available to support students during the August results period.

We are looking for someone with:

• Good Level 4 Qualification (a degree from a recognised UK or overseas institution is also desirable)
• Experience in university admissions, student recruitment or higher education guidance
• Knowledge of UCAS and UK higher education applications
• Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills
• Strong written English and the ability to work accurately with detailed information
• A genuine interest in supporting young people from a wide range of backgrounds
• The confidence to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team.

Experience of overseas university applications, Unifrog, careers education in a school or college, and delivering training or presentations would be an advantage.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm

Contract: Term time only, 35 weeks per year, plus two weeks during the summer holidays for results processing. Holiday entitlement must be taken outside of term time.
Salary: up to £43,000 (FTE) depending on experience.
