School Physicist of the Year
Congratulations to Viola Huf, and Claire Lu who have earned themselves the title School Physicists of the Year!
The Department of Physics at the University of Surrey, alongside the OGDEN Trust, host an annual event where outstanding Physics students in Year 10 and 12 are celebrated for their enthusiasm, talent and effort. The event features some physics-based demonstrations by university students and lecturers, a lecture by Professor Jim Al-Khalili, and an award ceremony. In 2017, Viola Huf was awarded a Surrey Schools' Physicist of the Year award, who has now gained a place at university reading Natural Science, and in 2018 Claire Lu gained a similar award, including a signed copy of Professor Al-Khalili's latest book.
Hurtwood may not be famous for producing scientists but it should be noted that each year we are sending students to universities such as Imperial, Cambridge and UCL to study science related degrees.
