You will be looking after the academic progress, pastoral care and wellbeing of the 46 students; responsibilities include oversight of the students’ academic and pastoral progress, taking care of all contact with parents and guardians, managing the tutor team and working closely with SMT and school staff on all school-related matters. The boarding house is a wonderful turn of the century mansion house at the heart of a campus in the middle of the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You will be required to live on site during term time, in spacious 4 bedroom accommodation (assistance with reasonable removal expenses is provided).
Ideally, applicants will be A Level teachers, who can contribute to the teaching of an exciting curriculum of 21 A Level subjects. Hurtwood House has its own generous salary scale for teachers; the Housemaster/Housemistress role carries an additional allowance of £30,000. Staff enjoy a range of benefits. You are welcome to join students in the first class dining facilities for three meals a day and there is a staff wellbeing programme, comprising in-school sessions and membership of the local leisure centre and its facilities, along with membership of our EAP. Housemasters and Housemistresses are also offered membership of a private health scheme as a taxable benefit. We are a member of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

We have an impressive academic record, a reputation for preparing students successfully for higher education and are renowned for the quality of our pastoral care. A culture of high expectations, creativity and professionalism permeates the school and we encourage students and staff to work in partnership to achieve the academic and personal outcomes that are important to us.
