Every school in the country has been evaluated to show how much "VALUE" they add to each student in terms of examination success. The table compares students' actual A level results with their previous GCSE performance and is a statistical means therefore of assessing the relative effectiveness of each school.
The figures are compiled by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (previously the DFES) who stress that this is far from an exact science and that the results should be treated with some caution but it is nevertheless a very great triumph for Hurtwood and a great tribute to our teachers and students that out of some 4000 independent and state schools in the survey, Hurtwood has come top this year, the out and out winner by a considerable margin.
